I'm sure you already know that! But this is the first time I've had to sit down and add to the baby blog since coming home from the hospital. I'm still a little nervous to leave Aiden alone while he's sleeping-I pull the pack n play up really close to the bed at night, so I can just reach in and touch him, and during the day I keep the house quiet while he naps so I can hear every little sound. I'm sure eventually these feelings of nervousness will pass, but for now I'm a worrier!
Aiden is one week old, and Matt and I already can't remember life without him here. We feel like so much has happened since last Sunday afternoon. For being only one week old, Aiden has had a lot going on in his life! He's been through everything at the hospital, been to the pediatrician twice already, had family visitors, and is trying to get adjusted to breastfeeding and sleeping in a new place (not inside mommy)!
Matt is the most amazing dad. He is so good at helping Aiden to be comfortable, just talking to him and rocking him to sleep or pacing the floor with him. I like to catch Matt reading to Aiden or just listen in on his little conversations. It is truly the sweetest thing to see. I already know that if I didn't have Matt as my husband and Aiden's daddy I could never do this. There have been several moments of sheer terror for me since Aiden was born(probably caused by huge hormonal shifts and lack of sleep) that I easily could have lost my center. But Matt always encourages me with his kind words and reassuring looks and reminds me that I can do this job of being Aiden's mommy. I just have to trust myself and trust the things that I know to be true. More to come later-Aiden is waking up and ready to eat!

Baby's Room
Here are a few shots of our baby's room. This is a really small little room that is only a few steps away from our bedroom. Even though it is small, we managed to buy great furniture from IKEA that fits well and gives us plenty of storage space (for now at least). I've tried to keep everything as gender neutral as possible, although I did go with blue a lot. But I think blue works for both!

Counting Down...
Well, at 38 weeks we are officially in "wait mode" on our baby. Since we are settling into waiting, I figured now would be a good time to launch the baby blog! My plan is to use this blog as a way for family and friends who are not in Rochester with us to be able to watch our little one grow. I'll also try not to bore you too much with stories of our daily adventures as new parents!
For now, I can tell you that we are mostly ready. Baby's room is done, clothes and diapers are washed (yes, we are planning to cloth diaper), hospital bag is packed. The only big thing left is to install our car seat bases, which I plan to do this weekend. I'll try to take a few photos of our baby's room and post them on the blog too.
I'll leave you with the answers to this survey:
How far along? 38 weeks!
Total weight gain/loss: +24 lbs! So far I've stayed right at my goal of staying under 30 lbs; this is a major feat for me!
Maternity clothes? Yes! The only exceptions would be pajama pants and Matt's Syracuse hoodie. Sadly, none of my UK gear fits me right now.
Stretch marks? Not yet...just darkening of some I already had, but the belly has been spared.
Best moment this week: Not gaining anything at my weekly appointment
Symptoms: Having mild contractions, going to the bathroom a lot, lots of cramping, occasional nausea, intermittent bursts of energy followed by extreme fatigue.
Movement: A few kicks from time to time, but mainly wavy rolls and stretches.
Food cravings: Ice cream. Water, lots of water-no other beverage really tastes good.
Gender? I really have not had strong feelings one way or the other, but usually when I dream of baby I can't see the gender. I honestly would be thrilled with a boy or a girl. There are advantages to each, I think!
Sleep: Up every couple of hours to pee! Lots of soreness in my hips and back all night long. Sigh.
Belly Button in or out? In, but really small.
What I miss: Bending down. Sitting on the floor. Pinot Grigio.
What I am looking forward to: HAVING THIS BABY!
Weekly Wisdom: We finished up our birth classes and had a final meeting with our doula this week. I feel very comfortable with our birth choices and the people who are responsible for our care. I think I'm ready to test my physical strength!
Milestones: FULL TERM AND WAITING!!!!! Come on, Baby Fields, I can't wait to meet you and want you to come home for a life of love and happiness with your daddy and me!
